Conflict Cafe: The Art of handling difficult meetings - Essential skills for professionals working with parents and carers
A free lunchtime workshop in mediation skills for healthcare professionals
Thursday 29th June, 1pm - 2pm (BST)
Free virtual webinar
In this lunchtime webinar on Thursday 29th June, MMF associate, Audrey Dorival will share her recommendations and advice for health professionals on navigating difficult conversations with parents and carers
Many professionals feel nervous, stressed or ill equipped at the prospect of difficult meetings with parents, especially when emotions may be running high. Difficult meetings can bring out the vulnerability in us all. Often parents are reacting against the ‘system’ rather than the individual professional. However, it is almost impossible for the professional not to ‘take it personally’ when the conflict or hostility is directed at them.
Audrey will share some essential skills for professionals on how to get meetings off to a positive start and build positive relationships with parents. She will explore how to develop rapport quickly and share effective strategies for opening meetings and handling challenges.
MMF associate, Audrey Dorival is a mediator and former litigation lawyer. She has 20 years experience working with parents and professionals helping to resolve disputes involving education, health and social care.
A short presentation will be followed by a Q&A
